Ancistrus cf. cirrhosus
Origin: South America (aquacultured)
Ancistrus cf. cirrhosus, the Bristlenose or Bushynose Pleco, is the most recommended pleco for community aquariums. Stays under 15 cm, breeds readily, and is highly effective at eating algae and biofilm from glass. Males develop distinctive branching facial tentacles.
60 L+. Temperature 20–27°C, pH 6.0–7.5. Feed algae wafers, blanched zucchini/cucumber, driftwood for grazing. Breeds in caves — male guards eggs. Very hardy and undemanding.
