Pomacanthus annularis
Origin: Indo-Pacific
The Annularis or Blue-ringed Angelfish (Pomacanthus annularis) is a large, visually imposing species from the Indo-Pacific, distinguished by a deep blue body adorned with fine wavy orange-brown horizontal lines and a striking bright blue ring or circle just behind the head — a feature unique to this species. Adults are stunning showpiece fish that command immediate attention in any large FOWLR or species aquarium. Feed a varied omnivore diet including sponge-based foods to meet this species' nutritional requirements in captivity.
House in a very large FOWLR aquarium (minimum 500 L) with abundant rockwork for shelter and territory. Maintain stable marine parameters (pH 8.1–8.4, SG 1.020–1.025, temperature 22–27°C). Feed a varied, sponge-inclusive omnivore diet: quality large marine pellets, frozen Mysis, angel formula foods, and marine algae. Not suitable for reef aquariums with corals — will nip at LPS, SPS, and clam mantles. Semi-aggressive; keep only one per tank unless very large system.
