Neolebias ansorgii
Also known as: Ansorge's Neolebias, Ansorge Tetra
Origin: West Africa (Gabon, Republic of Congo)
Neolebias ansorgii is a tiny, brilliantly coloured characin from the forests of Gabon and the Republic of Congo. Males display a striking red body with teal-green iridescent lateral sheen, rivalling any South American nano tetra in colouration. It requires very soft, acidic water and is best kept in groups in a dedicated nano biotope aquarium.
Water: 23–27°C, pH 5.5–6.8, very soft water essential (GH 1–5). Tank: Minimum 30L; densely planted nano with peat filtration and leaf litter. Feeding: Micro crushed flake, live baby brine shrimp, micro worms, and daphnia nauplii. Behaviour: Peaceful but males display to one another; groups of 8+ are ideal. Compatibility: Nano tank with similarly tiny species; avoid any boisterous or large fish.
