Apistogramma eunotus

Apistogramma eunotus is an uncommonly offered species from Peruvian blackwater and clearwater streams, closely related to A. nijsseni. Males develop a distinctive spade-shaped caudal fin and display vivid blue facial spots against a yellow-olive body. It is a cave-spawning species where females take on full parental duties after spawning.
Water: 24-28°C, pH 5.5-7.0, GH 1-6, KH 0-2; soft acidic water essential. Tank: 80L minimum; provide caves, driftwood, and leaf litter for security. Feeding: Omnivore; small live foods and high-quality frozen fare preferred. Behaviour: Males hold loose territories; females are dedicated and aggressive brood-guarders. Compatibility: Best with small, peaceful fish such as tetras and dwarf corydoras.
