Apistogramma trifasciata

Apistogramma trifasciata — the three-stripe dwarf cichlid — is named for its three horizontal stripes. Males develop intense electric blue-purple body colouration with contrasting dark stripes, making them one of the most vivid Apistogramma species. Females are yellow-gold with black markings when brooding. This species needs soft, acidic water and detailed aquascaping with plants, leaf litter, and caves.
pH 5.5–7.0. Soft, warm water. 80+ L planted tank with caves. 1M + 2F. Feed: live/frozen artemia, bloodworm.
