Pomacea bridgesii
Origin: South America
Golden Apple Snails (Pomacea bridgesii var.) are large, attractive snails with bright golden-yellow shells and matching body colouration. They are gentle, plant-safe scavengers that clean up leftover food and decaying plant matter without harming healthy vegetation. Their inquisitive behaviour and impressive size make them popular centrepiece invertebrates.
Maintain pH above 7.0 to prevent shell pitting. Supplement diet with blanched courgette, spinach, and cuttlebone for calcium. Keep tank lidded — apple snails will escape through any gap. Avoid copper medications. Works well with peaceful community fish that won't harass their tentacles.
