Paracirrhites arcatus
Origin: Indo-Pacific
The Arc-Eye Hawkfish is named for the distinctive arc-shaped red, orange, and blue marking behind its eye. A hardy Indo-Pacific species, it perches on branching corals particularly Pocillopora and makes a bold, colourful inhabitant for reef setups. Well adapted to aquarium life.
Provide branching coral or rockwork for perching. Hawkfish may eat small shrimp and nano fish — choose tankmates of adequate size. Not particularly aggressive toward other fish except similar hawkfish. Feed carnivore-appropriate foods: mysis, krill, small marine meaty items. Will not harm corals directly.
