Clea helena
Origin: Southeast Asia
The Assassin Snail is a predatory freshwater snail renowned for hunting and consuming pest snails such as Malaysian Trumpet Snails and bladder snails, making it invaluable for natural population control. Its attractive banded yellow and brown shell resembles a tiny bumblebee. Generally non-aggressive toward adult shrimp though juveniles may be at risk.
Introduce 3–6 snails per 50 L to control infestations. They reproduce slowly — pairs will breed but not explosively. Will also eat sinking pellets and meaty foods if pest snails run out. Maintain good water quality and calcium availability (pH 7.0+) for healthy shell development. Avoid copper medications.
