Aulonocara stuartgranti 'Chipoka'
Also known as: Aulonocara sp. 'Stuartgranti Chipoka', Chipoka Peacock
Origin: Lake Malawi, Africa
Aulonocara stuartgranti 'Chipoka' is a geographically distinct colour form collected near Chipoka on the western shore of Lake Malawi. This population is noted among peacock enthusiasts for the particularly intense blue body colouration and rich yellow markings compared to other stuartgranti variants. It is maintained pure in hobbyist collections to preserve its locality-specific colouration.
Water: 24-28°C, pH 7.5-8.5, hard alkaline; pristine water maximises colour expression. Tank: 200L minimum with sandy substrate for natural sand-sifting foraging. Feeding: Quality cichlid pellets, frozen mysis, krill for best colouration. Behaviour: Males territorial with rival Aulonocara; single male harem setup recommended. Compatibility: Suitable with other haps and peacocks; avoid aggressive mbuna.
