Caridina cf. cantonensis
Also known as: Aura Blue Shrimp, Luminous Blue Shrimp
Origin: Captive bred (Caridina cf. cantonensis lineage)
The Aura Blue Shrimp is an extraordinary and highly coveted Caridina cf. cantonensis variant displaying an otherworldly luminous blue colouration with an almost iridescent glow under aquarium lighting. Unlike the solid blue of Blue Tiger or Blue Bolt Shrimp, the Aura Blue has a translucent, glowing quality to its blue pigmentation that gives it an ethereal, jewel-like appearance.
As a Caridina species, the Aura Blue demands pristine soft, acidic water with near-zero carbonate hardness. RO water with Caridina mineral salts, active buffering substrate, and complete parameter stability are required. This is strictly a species for experienced Caridina keepers with proven setups.
The Aura Blue is among the rarest and most expensive Caridina variants in the hobby, commanding premium prices due to its exceptional appearance and relative scarcity.
Water: 18–23°C, pH 5.8–6.5, GH 3–6, KH 0–1; RO water with Caridina mineral supplement; TDS 100–140. Tank: minimum 20 L with active buffering substrate; sponge filter; dense moss coverage. Feeding: snowflake food, biofilm powders, algae wafers; small amounts every 1–2 days. Breeding: moderate; 15–20 eggs per clutch; luminous blue colour maintained in offspring of quality lines. Compatibility: Caridina-only; no fish; stable, pristine conditions non-negotiable.
