Chaetodon baronessa
Origin: Indo-Pacific
The Baronessa Butterflyfish is a striking species with angular chevron patterning in white and yellowish-tan with a dark eye band and diagonal body lines. In nature it is an obligate corallivore feeding almost exclusively on Acropora coral polyps, making it very challenging to transition to prepared foods. Recommended only for advanced hobbyists.
Requires live Acropora coral polyps or speciality coral-based paste foods to survive long-term. Initial feeding on live coral may be necessary. Provide a species-appropriate tank with Acropora frags it can graze on. Very sensitive to water quality. Not compatible with SPS reef systems. Advanced keeper only.
