Pseudanthias bartlettorum
Origin: Micronesia, Western Pacific
Pseudanthias bartlettorum is a sought-after Pacific anthias with males displaying vivid purple to violet dorsal colouration transitioning to golden-yellow with orange-red facial markings. One of the hardier anthias species, it tolerates reef aquarium conditions well and is most impressive when kept in mixed-sex groups.
Keep in a harem of 1 male to 3–5 females; the dominant female will transition to male if the male is lost. Feed 3–5 times daily with mysis, copepods, and enriched brine shrimp — anthias have high metabolic rates. Provide adequate swimming space. Sensitive to shipping stress; acclimate carefully. Strong water flow and high oxygen levels important.
