Coris batuensis
Origin: Indo-Pacific, Indonesia
The Batu Coris is an attractive wrasse from the Indo-Pacific with dramatic colour transformation from juvenile to adult — juveniles show white with bold black and orange spots while adult males develop intricate green and pink patterns. An energetic species requiring open swimming space and sandy substrate for burrowing.
Provide at least 5 cm of fine sand for sleeping and burrowing. Feed meaty marine foods: mysis, krill, chopped squid, small crustaceans. May eat small ornamental shrimp and worms. Tight-fitting lid required — active wrasses jump. Best in a FOWLR or larger reef with robust fish. Give plenty of open swimming space.
