Austrolebias bellottii

Origin: La Plata basin, Argentina, Uruguay, Brazil
Austrolebias bellottii is one of the larger and more widely distributed Austrolebias, found in temporary pools across the La Plata basin in Argentina, Uruguay, and southern Brazil. Males display a deep blue body sprinkled with silver-white spots and vivid blue-edged fins, while females are attractively mottled in brown. Its greater size and relatively robust constitution make it one of the better entry-point annual South American killifish.
Water: 15–22 °C, pH 6.5–7.5, soft to moderately hard; cool water essential. Tank: 40 L species tank; peat substrate; secure lid mandatory. Feeding: Live and frozen Daphnia, Artemia, blood worm; quality pellets accepted. Behaviour: Males territorial and may be aggressive to females; keep trio. Compatibility: Species tank only.
