Bentos Tetra

Hyphessobrycon bentosi, the Bentos Tetra, originates from Colombia's Río Meta and its tributaries. Its slender, elongated form is highlighted by a dark lateral stripe beneath an iridescent horizontal band that shifts colour with the viewing angle. A hardy and adaptable beginner-friendly species with peaceful community temperament and moderate schooling behaviour.

Water: 23–28°C, pH 5.5–7.0, soft to moderately hard water. Tank: 60 L minimum; planted aquarium with open swimming space. Feeding: Quality flake, micro-pellets, frozen brine shrimp and daphnia. Behaviour: Peaceful schooling species; keep 8+; energetic mid-water swimmers. Compatibility: Excellent with other small peaceful tetras, corydoras, rasboras and small cichlids.
