About
The Berlin Swordtail is a refined German-bred strain of Xiphophorus hellerii, developed through selective breeding for excellent finnage proportions, strong body conformation, and vibrant coloration. The sleek silver-blue body is accented by a bold black lateral stripe and a vivid red or orange sword. A prized show-quality swordtail for dedicated livebearer enthusiasts and an excellent showcase fish.
Care Guide
Keep in moderately hard, alkaline water. Best kept as a trio (1 male : 2 females) to reduce male aggression toward females. Feed varied diet of quality flakes, live/frozen foods, and vegetable matter. Provide plants for cover. Livebearers — separate pregnant females or use a breeder box. Males can be aggressive toward each other.
