Ecsenius bicolor
Origin: Indo-Pacific
Ecsenius bicolor, the Bicolor Blenny, is charmingly unusual — its front half is dark grey-blue and its rear half is vivid orange-yellow, creating a striking split-colour effect. A personable, inquisitive fish that perches on rocks in a characteristic sphinx pose. An efficient algae grazer that scrapes microalgae from rockwork. Completely reef safe. Tends to bicker with other blennies; keep alone or one per species. Readily adapts to captivity and becomes bold and tame.
Established tank with algae growth. Supplement with algae wafers, nori, and frozen mysis. Standard reef parameters. Provide caves and crevices to retreat. Keep one blenny per tank (may fight with other blennies). Peaceful with all other fish.
