Ecsenius bicolor
Origin: Indo-Pacific
The Bicolor Blenny's striking two-tone colouration — deep blue-black anterior and vivid orange-yellow posterior — makes it one of the most distinctive blennies in the marine hobby. A highly effective algae grazer, it perches on live rock constantly browsing microalgae and detritus. Hardy and consistently popular in reef aquariums.
Provide ample live rock for perching and grazing. Feed with spirulina, algae sheets, and supplemental mysis for protein. Keep only one per tank unless the system is very large — aggressive toward conspecifics and similar-shaped blennies. Secure lid required. Reef-safe for corals; may nip at clam mantles in some individuals.
