Caridina cantonensis var. 'Black King Kong'
Also known as: Black King Kong Shrimp, BKK Shrimp, Solid Black Taiwan Bee
Origin: Selectively bred; base species from Southern China
The Black King Kong is a fully melanistic Taiwan Bee Caridina morph expressing deep, saturated black body coloration across the entire body with no white markings or banding. One of the darkest freshwater shrimp available in the hobby, the Black King Kong creates stunning visual contrast in aquariums with light-colored substrates, white sand, or bright green planted backgrounds. Like all Taiwan Bee variants, strict soft, acidic, low-TDS water management with an active buffering substrate and RO base water is mandatory. Color expression is maximized by consistent water quality, quality feeding, and a mature, biofilm-rich aquarium environment.
Water: pH 5.8–6.8, TDS 80–130 ppm, temperature 20–24°C; RO water with Caridina GH+ and active buffering substrate. Tank: 30–60 litres; light or white substrate enhances visual contrast; sponge filtration. Feeding: Premium shrimp pellets, biofilm, algae, Indian almond leaves. Breeding: Select darkest specimens; breed with other King Kong variants. Compatibility: Species-only; no Neocaridina or fish.
