Caridina cantonensis
Origin: Taiwan (captive-bred)
The Black King Kong Shrimp is an intensely black and white patterned Caridina representing one of the highest-grade bee shrimp variants. Its deep opaque black contrasted with clean white bands creates a visually dramatic species in planted aquariums. Demands pristine soft acidic water and should only be kept by experienced shrimp keepers.
Requires soft, acidic RO/DI water remineralised with Caridina-specific mineral (Salty Shrimp GH+). pH 5.8–6.8, TDS 80–130 ppm, temperature 20–24 °C. Never expose to hard tap water. Use inert substrate (aqua soil). Feed sparingly — overfeeding ruins water quality. Highly sensitive to ammonia, nitrite, copper, and medications.
