Pangio oblonga
Also known as: Black Kuhli Loach, Java Loach, Cinnamon Loach
Origin: Java, Sumatra, Borneo
Pangio oblonga is among the darkest of the Kuhli Loach relatives, lacking any visible banding or spotting on its intensely dark body. This makes it a visually striking contrast fish when kept against pale substrate in well-lit planted tanks. Like other Pangio species, it is gentle, secretive and greatly benefits from being kept in groups with ample hiding places.
Water: 24-30°C, pH 5.5-7.0, soft water, gentle to moderate flow. Tank: Minimum 60 L, fine white sand substrate to showcase its colouration. Feeding: Sinking pellets, frozen bloodworm, daphnia, micro-worms. Behaviour: Nocturnal and secretive; groups of six or more show increased boldness. Compatibility: Gentle and peaceful; suitable with all community species.
