Cynolebias nigripinnis

Cynolebias nigripinnis is a compact annual killifish from temporary pools in Argentina and Uruguay. Males are among the most dramatically coloured of all South American annual fish, with an intensely dark body set off by vivid iridescent blue-white spots. It requires cool temperatures and the full annual killifish protocol including peat substrate and dry-phase egg incubation.
Water: 15–22 °C, pH 6.0–7.5, soft to moderately hard; cool water essential. Tank: 30 L cool species tank; peat substrate; tight-fitting lid. Feeding: Live and frozen micro-invertebrates; Daphnia, Artemia, Cyclops. Behaviour: Males territorial; keep one male with one to two females. Compatibility: Species tank only; cool temperature requirements are restrictive.
