Neocaridina davidi var. 'Black Rose'
Also known as: Black Rose Shrimp, Black Neocaridina
Origin: Selectively bred; base species from Taiwan and China
The Black Rose Neocaridina is a selectively bred Neocaridina davidi morph bred for maximum melanin expression, resulting in a deep, saturated black to dark charcoal-gray body coloration. One of the most striking darker Neocaridina morphs available, Black Rose shrimp create vivid contrast against light or white substrates in planted aquariums. Despite their impressive dark coloration, they retain the full hardiness, adaptability, and prolific breeding tendency of standard Neocaridina davidi, tolerating a wide range of tap water conditions without specialized equipment. A popular choice for aquascapers seeking bold dark color accents in planted nano tanks and community displays.
Water: pH 6.5–8.0, TDS 150–400 ppm, temperature 18–28°C; standard tap water adequate. Tank: 20+ litres; light or white substrate maximizes color contrast; planted. Feeding: Biofilm, algae, blanched vegetables, standard shrimp pellets. Breeding: Prolific; select darkest offspring to maintain Black Rose grade. Compatibility: Peaceful; excellent community invertebrate with small peaceful fish.
