Dascyllus melanurus
Origin: Western Pacific, Philippines to Vanuatu
Dascyllus melanurus, the Black-Tail Dascyllus, is similar to the Humbug but immediately identified by its fully black caudal fin. Native to the Western Pacific from the Philippines to Vanuatu, it is a lively robust species suitable for community marine tanks with appropriately sized companions.
Provide ample live rock for territory and cover. Feed a varied diet: marine flake, mysis, spirulina. Semi-aggressive — introduce last in community setups. Can be kept in small groups in larger systems. Hardy and forgiving of minor water quality fluctuations. A reliable and attractive choice for beginner marine aquarists.
