Rasbora taeniata
Also known as: Blackline Rasbora, Black-lined Rasbora
Origin: Borneo, Thai-Malay Peninsula
Rasbora taeniata is a moderately sized, attractive rasbora whose most striking feature is a sharply defined black lateral stripe that runs from behind the pectoral fin to the caudal base. Found in the blackwater rivers and hill streams of Borneo and the Thai-Malay Peninsula, it is an active, undemanding schooler that adapts well to a range of water conditions. Its bold monochrome pattern is particularly effective when a large school moves through clear water.
Water: 22–28 °C, pH 6.0–7.5, soft to moderately hard (GH 4–15). Tank: 80 L minimum; planted community tank with open midwater swimming space. Feeding: Omnivore — flakes, pellets, live or frozen invertebrates. Behaviour: Active peaceful schooler; keep 8+ for natural group behaviour and bold display. Compatibility: Good with any peaceful community fish of similar size.
