Andinoacara pulcher
Also known as: Blue Acara
Origin: South America
Andinoacara pulcher is one of the most popular South American cichlids, prized for its hardy constitution and attractive iridescent blue-green scaling. Originating from Venezuela and Trinidad, it adapts well to a wide range of water conditions and is one of the easiest cichlids to breed in captivity.
Water: 20-26°C, pH 6.5-8.0, adaptable to most tap water conditions. Tank: Minimum 150L, robust plants, smooth gravel or sand, flat rocks for spawning. Feeding: Quality cichlid pellets, frozen bloodworm, earthworms; accepts most foods readily. Behaviour: Semi-aggressive; bonded pairs are territorial, particularly during spawning. Compatibility: Good with similarly sized robust South American fish; avoid very small species.
