Pundamilia pundamilia
Also known as: Blue-bar Victorian Cichlid, Pundamilia
Origin: Lake Victoria, Africa
Pundamilia pundamilia is one of the most visually striking and well-known Lake Victoria cichlids. Like many Victorian cichlids it is a maternal mouthbrooder and breeds readily in aquariums.
Water: 23-27°C, pH 7.2-8.5, moderately hard to hard water. Tank: 120L minimum; mix of rock structure and open space. Feeding: Omnivore; quality cichlid pellets, algae content, occasional frozen invertebrates. Behaviour: Moderate aggression; males competitive for territories and female attention. Compatibility: Best in a species tank or with other similarly sized Victorian cichlids.
