Neocaridina davidi var.
Also known as: Blue Carbon Rili Shrimp, Carbon Rili Blue
Origin: Captive bred (originally East Asia)
The Blue Carbon Rili Shrimp merges the Carbon Rili patterning — dark, near-black head and tail sections — with blue pigmentation, producing a striking specimen with deep blue-black colour islands separated by a clear transparent midsection. The result is one of the most visually bold and contemporary-looking Neocaridina morphs in the hobby.
As with all Rili morphs, colour pattern quality varies among offspring; the best specimens display sharp, clean transitions between coloured and transparent body sections. This morph combines standard Neocaridina hardiness with a collector-grade appearance.
Blue Carbon Rili Shrimp are peaceful and active, spending their days grazing over all surfaces. They breed readily in stable conditions and form attractive colonies where the mix of patterning intensity among offspring adds visual interest.
Water: 18–26°C, pH 6.5–7.5, GH 6–15, KH 2–8; dechlorinated tap water appropriate. Tank: minimum 20 L; dark substrate enhances blue-black colouration; mosses recommended. Feeding: biofilm, algae wafers, shrimp pellets, blanched vegetables. Breeding: easy; pattern varies in offspring; select best specimens for colony improvement. Compatibility: peaceful community shrimp; keep with shrimp-safe nano fish and other Neocaridina.
