Neocaridina davidi var. 'Blue Dream'
Also known as: Blue Dream Shrimp, Neocaridina Blue Dream
Origin: Selectively bred; base species from Taiwan and China
The Blue Dream Neocaridina is selectively bred from the same Neocaridina davidi base as Blue Velvet but targets a softer, paler sky-blue coloration, giving it a lighter, airier appearance. In a well-planted aquarium with dark substrate, the Blue Dream's subtle hue creates a calming visual contrast against green foliage. Like all Neocaridina, Blue Dreams are hardy and adaptable, thriving across a broad range of water parameters and breeding readily without specialized equipment. They are excellent grazers of biofilm, algae, and detritus and contribute positively to tank maintenance. A popular choice for community planted tanks and nano aquariums alike.
Water: pH 6.5–8.0, TDS 150–400 ppm, temperature 18–28°C; standard tap water acceptable. Tank: 20+ litres; planted with mosses and broad-leaf plants; sponge filtration. Feeding: Biofilm, algae, blanched greens, Neocaridina shrimp pellets. Breeding: Very prolific; females carry 20–50 eggs; breeds readily without intervention. Compatibility: Peaceful; community-safe with small, non-predatory fish.
