Chromis viridis
Origin: Indo-Pacific
Chromis viridis — the blue-green chromis or blue-green damsel — is one of the most popular reef fish for creating schooling behaviour. Groups of 6–12 fish swim in mid-water, their iridescent blue-green colouration creating a shimmering curtain effect. Unlike many damsels it is genuinely peaceful. It is hardy, accepts prepared foods readily, and is reef-safe. Note that dominant individuals may harass weaker schoolmates; odd numbers of 5+ work best.
Light: any. Flow: moderate-high. Keep in groups of 5+. Feed: mixed diet, flakes, pellets, frozen. Reef-safe. One of the most peaceful damsels available.
