Neocaridina davidi var. 'Blue Jelly'
Also known as: Blue Jelly Shrimp, Jelly Blue Neocaridina
Origin: Selectively bred; base species from Taiwan and China
The Blue Jelly Shrimp is a Neocaridina davidi morph distinguished by its glassy, semi-transparent blue body that creates a uniquely ethereal, jellyfish-like appearance under aquarium lighting. Unlike the more opaque Blue Velvet morph, the Blue Jelly's translucency allows internal organs to be partially visible, adding to its otherworldly aesthetic. A beautiful contrast shrimp for dark-substrate planted tanks where its translucent blue quality is most prominently displayed. Hardy and adaptable like all Neocaridina, the Blue Jelly breeds freely across a broad range of water conditions and is straightforward to keep for shrimp keepers of all experience levels.
Water: pH 6.5–8.0, TDS 150–400 ppm, temperature 18–28°C; standard tap water adequate. Tank: 20+ litres; dark substrate enhances translucent glow effect; planted tank. Feeding: Biofilm, algae, blanched vegetables, standard shrimp pellets. Breeding: Prolific; select most translucent individuals for breeding to maintain the jelly effect. Compatibility: Peaceful; community-compatible with small peaceful fish.
