Clibanarius digueti
Origin: Pacific Coast of Americas
The Blue Legged Hermit Crab is one of the most commonly included members of marine clean-up crews, with bright blue and white legs making it easily identifiable. Its constant activity keeps the sandbed turned and free of detritus. Peaceful and reef-safe, it requires empty replacement shells to accommodate growth.
Stock 1–2 crabs per 10 L as part of cleanup crew. Provide a variety of empty shells slightly larger than their current shells — they will fight over suitable homes without available replacements. Reef-safe; compatible with most fish and invertebrates. Avoid copper medications. Acclimate via drip method.
