Cherax sp. 'Blue Moon'
Also known as: Blue Moon Crayfish
Origin: New Guinea (captive bred)
Cherax sp. 'Blue Moon' is a stunning New Guinean Cherax species in which both sexes display a vivid, saturated sky-blue colouration that intensifies in mature adults under good lighting. Like most large Cherax species, it is territorial and will predate smaller tank mates, requiring a spacious single-species or large-fish setup. Its extraordinary colouration and impressive size make it one of the most desirable crayfish in the hobby.
Water: 22–27°C, pH 7.0–8.0, GH 8–15, KH 4–8; robust filtration essential. Tank: minimum 120 L, multiple caves, driftwood; secure lid. Feeding: sinking pellets, blanched vegetables, frozen meaty foods. Behaviour: territorial; will attack conspecifics and predate small tank mates. Compatibility: species-only or with large robust fish; not plant or community safe.
