Paracyprichromis nigripinnis

Origin: Lake Tanganyika, Africa
Paracyprichromis nigripinnis is an open-water schooling cichlid from the rocky intermediate zone of Lake Tanganyika, swimming in dense shoals mid-water among the rocks. Males display electric blue horizontal stripes on a dark body and perform vertical spawning displays on the rock face. A maternal mouthbrooder best kept in large schools.
Water: 24-27°C, pH 7.8-9.0, hard alkaline water with strong circulation. Tank: 150L+; tall tank preferred; rock faces at sides; open water in the centre. Feeding: Quality carnivore flake or micro-pellet; frozen cyclops or baby brine shrimp. Behaviour: Peaceful schooling species; males display to each other and females with colour intensification. Compatibility: Julidochromis species, Neolamprologus brichardi, Altolamprologus compressiceps.
