Baryancistrus beggini
Origin: Rio Orinoco tributaries, Venezuela
Baryancistrus beggini, the Blue Panaque or L239, is a compact and strikingly coloured loricariid from Venezuelan Orinoco tributaries. Its slate-blue to grey body is edged with vivid yellow on the dorsal and caudal fins. Smaller than the Gold Nugget (L018), it reaches about 12 cm — ideal for medium-sized tanks. An herbivorous grazer of algae and biofilm; requires ample algae-covered surfaces or supplemental algae wafer feeding.
Temperature 26–30 °C, strong flow. Driftwood and flat stones for grazing. Feed algae wafers, blanched zucchini, sinking pellets. Low nitrates (<20 ppm). Peaceful with community fish. 120+ L.
