Pterophyllum scalare
Also known as: Blue Silver Angelfish, Blue Silver Angel
Origin: South America
The Blue Silver Angelfish is a captive-bred form of Pterophyllum scalare with enhanced blue iridescence across the flanks and fins, offset by contrasting black bars. It retains the elegant triangular profile of the species and is hardy enough for most community setups when water quality is maintained.
Water: 24-30°C, pH 6.0-7.5, soft to moderately hard water. Tank: Minimum 120L tall, planted with Vallisneria or Amazon swords, gentle filtration. Feeding: Varied diet of quality flake, frozen bloodworm, brine shrimp, and micropellets. Behaviour: Semi-aggressive when spawning; otherwise peaceful with suitable tankmates. Compatibility: Excellent with larger tetras and peaceful catfish; avoid fin-nippers such as tiger barbs.
