Anampses caeruleopunctatus
Origin: Indo-Pacific
The Blue Spotted Wrasse is a beautiful and distinctive species with males featuring bold blue spots and lines across a tan body and striking facial markings. Among the more challenging wrasses to maintain, it requires a deep sand bed, pristine water quality, and a varied live prey diet. Females show an attractive orange and white spotted pattern.
Provide minimum 10 cm of fine sand for sleeping and burrowing. Initial feeding may require live amphipods, copepods, or small worms before transitioning to frozen mysis. Tight-fitting lid essential. Large active wrasse — requires ample swimming space. Not safe with small ornamental invertebrates. Deep sand bed critical.
