Trigonostigma truncata
Also known as: Blue-tailed Harlequin Rasbora
Origin: Malay Peninsula
Trigonostigma truncata is the least frequently traded member of its genus, known from restricted localities on the Thai-Malay Peninsula. Its most distinctive feature is the faint blue tinge to the caudal fin which contrasts subtly with its warm copper body colouration. In common with all Trigonostigma, it is an egg-scatterer on broad-leaved plants and prefers soft, slightly acidic water. Highly sought by collectors of rare rasboras.
Water: 23–28 °C, pH 6.0–7.0, soft water preferred (GH 2–10). Tank: 40 L minimum; well-planted, broad-leafed plants, tannin addition recommended. Feeding: Omnivore — accepts micro pellets, fine flake, baby brine shrimp, small frozen foods. Behaviour: Peaceful and shy; keep in groups of 8+ and avoid boisterous tankmates. Compatibility: Best with other small, peaceful rasboras, nano shrimp, and dwarf corydoras.
