About

Paracanthurus hepatus — the Pacific blue tang — is one of the most recognisable marine fish. Known as 'Dory' from the Pixar films, its vivid blue body, black pattern, and yellow tail are unmistakable. It is an active, open-water swimmer requiring a large aquarium with substantial swimming space. Blue tangs are vigorous algae grazers and benefit from regular seaweed/nori in the diet. They are susceptible to ich (Cryptocaryon) and may require quarantine before introduction.

Care Guide

Tank: 400+ L minimum. Light: any. Flow: high. Feed: primarily herbivore diet — nori/seaweed clip daily, supplemented mysis and pellets. Ich-prone — quarantine before introduction.
