Neocaridina davidi var. 'Blue Velvet'
Also known as: Blue Velvet Shrimp, Blue Neocaridina
Origin: Selectively bred; base species from Taiwan and China
The Blue Velvet Shrimp is one of the most popular Neocaridina color morphs available in the hobby, prized for its solid, vivid blue coloration and exceptional hardiness. A selectively bred variety of Neocaridina davidi, Blue Velvets are forgiving of moderate water parameter fluctuations and breed readily in standard tap water conditions, making them one of the most beginner-friendly shrimp available. They graze continuously on biofilm and algae, performing useful tank maintenance. Their vivid blue coloration pops beautifully against dark substrates and lush green plant growth. A thriving colony can be established quickly with minimal specialized equipment.

Feeding: Biofilm, algae, blanched vegetables, Neocaridina shrimp pellets. Breeding: Prolific; females carry 20–50 eggs; can reproduce monthly in ideal conditions. Compatibility: Good with small, peaceful fish; avoid predatory species.
