Eunice aphroditois
Origin: Indo-Pacific, Atlantic
Eunice aphroditois is an extraordinary ambush predator polychaete worm kept exclusively as a display specimen in species-only or predator display tanks. It buries its iridescent segmented body in deep sand and strikes prey with exceptional speed. Handling requires extreme caution — its jaws can deliver significant injuries. Strictly for advanced keepers.
Provide at least 15–20 cm of fine marine sand for burrowing. Feed meaty foods: silversides, krill, large marine pellets dropped near its burrow after dark. Do NOT handle with bare hands — jaws are extremely powerful. House in a species-only predator display. Long-lived with proper care. Fascinating nocturnal predator.
