Boraras brigittae
Also known as: Brigittae Rasbora, Mosquito Rasbora
Origin: Southern Borneo, Indonesia
Often grouped with the Chili Rasbora (B. brigittae) in trade, this species is characterised by its prominent lateral red stripe and deep crimson coloration. Males compete in display but never harm one another, making a mixed group of Boraras species an entertaining and visually dynamic nano display.
Water: 22–28 °C, pH 4.0–6.5, very soft (GH 1–8); tannin-stained water strongly recommended. Tank: 20 L minimum; Java moss, leaf litter, dark substrate, floating plants. Feeding: Baby brine shrimp nauplii, Cyclops, micro pellets; accepts fine crushed flake. Behaviour: Peaceful micro schooler; males display to each other non-aggressively; keep 10+. Compatibility: Shrimp-safe; good with other Boraras, CPD, nano tetras.
