Boraras naevus
Also known as: Naevus Rasbora, Single-Spot Rasbora
Origin: Thailand
One of the least commonly seen Boraras in trade, Boraras naevus has a near-transparent body with a large single black spot behind the pectoral fin. It is native to soft, tannin-stained habitats in Thailand and demands pristine water quality. Its rarity and delicate beauty make it a coveted fish for serious nano aquarists.
Water: 22–28 °C, pH 4.5–6.5, very soft (GH 0–6); tannin supplementation recommended. Tank: 20 L minimum; species tank preferred; use Indian almond leaves and driftwood. Feeding: Micro foods only — baby brine shrimp, micro pellets, Cyclops nauplii. Behaviour: Peaceful and somewhat shy; groups of 8+ reduce stress significantly. Compatibility: Suitable only with nano shrimp and other micro Boraras; highly sensitive species.
