Homaloptera parclitella
Also known as: Borneo Hillstream Loach, Borneo Hillstream Sucker
Origin: Borneo
Homaloptera parclitella is a robust hillstream loach from the mountain rivers of Borneo, built for life in fast-moving, boulder-strewn habitats. Its intricate reticulated patterning provides excellent camouflage on riverbed substrates, and it uses enlarged ventral fins as adhesive surfaces. In captivity it demands strong current and high oxygen levels, rewarding specialist keepers with natural and active behaviour.
Water: 22-26°C, pH 6.5-7.5, cool, highly oxygenated, strong current. Tank: Minimum 100 L, large smooth boulders, riverine decor, high flow. Feeding: Biofilm grazer; sinking algae wafers, blanched greens, sinking pellets. Behaviour: Active on boulder surfaces; may become territorial toward own species. Compatibility: Peaceful with other species; provide space between conspecifics.
