Parathelphusa sp. 'Borneo' is a sturdy, medium-sized freshwater crab from the streams and river banks of Borneo displaying rich red-orange colouration that intensifies in mature adults. It is an active and inquisitive species that benefits from a spacious paludarium offering both land access and substantial water depth. Males are territorial with each other but mixed-sex groups tolerate each other well with adequate space and hiding spots.
Water: 24–28°C, pH 7.0–8.0, GH 6–15, KH 3–8; land area with humid substrate essential. Tank: minimum 40 L paludarium, coarse substrate, rocks and driftwood as territory markers. Feeding: sinking pellets, blanched vegetables, fruit, invertebrates, dried leaf litter. Behaviour: active and bold; semi-terrestrial; males territorial. Compatibility: species-only or with large robust fish; not safe with small invertebrates.
