Synodontis brichardi
Origin: Democratic Republic of Congo (lower Congo River)
Synodontis brichardi is a handsome mochokid catfish endemic to the lower Congo River, one of the world's most turbulent river systems, where it clings to rock faces in powerful rapids. It displays an elegant pale body covered in fine dark spots with attractively patterned fins. This species demands highly oxygenated, fast-moving water and does best in a rocky Congo biotope with strong circulation pumps.
Recreate Congo rapids conditions: powerful pumps creating strong current, rocky substrate, highly oxygenated water. Feed quality sinking pellets, frozen meaty foods, algae wafers. Keep singly or in small groups with sufficient territory. Water changes essential. Advanced — not suitable for standard community setups.
