Aspidoras eurycephalus
Also known as: Broad-head Aspidoras
Origin: South America
Aspidoras eurycephalus is a species from the cerrado river systems of central Brazil, immediately recognisable by its exceptionally broad, flattened head which is wider than that of any other Aspidoras species. Its spotted patterning is complementary to this unique head shape. It inhabits soft to medium-hard clear-water streams.
Water: 22–26°C, pH 6.0–7.5, soft to medium hardness; clean, well-oxygenated water preferred. Tank: 40L+, fine sand substrate, gentle to moderate flow, plants and open sandy areas. Feeding: Small sinking wafers, micro pellets, frozen daphnia, brine shrimp, and cyclops. Behaviour: Peaceful schooling bottom dweller; keep in groups of 6+. Compatibility: Good nano community species with small, peaceful tankmates.
