Corydoras aeneus
Origin: Trinidad, Venezuela, Brazil
Corydoras aeneus, the Bronze Cory, is the most widely kept and recommended corydoras species. Its bronze-gold iridescent flanks and modest size (6–7 cm) make it an ideal bottom-dweller for community tanks. Extraordinarily hardy and adaptable; tolerates a wide range of water conditions that would stress more delicate species. Forms the foundation of many community tanks. Prolific and relatively easy to breed — one of the best starter corydoras for learning cichlid-style egg care.
Groups of 6+. Wide pH tolerance (6.0–8.0), temperature 20–28 °C. Fine sand preferred — sharp gravel damages barbels. Feed sinking pellets, frozen bloodworm. Very adaptable. One of the most beginner-friendly freshwater fish available.
