Aspidoras brunneus
Also known as: Brown Aspidoras
Origin: South America
Aspidoras brunneus is a small armoured catfish from central Brazil with a warm brown colouration and subtle darker mottling across its body. It inhabits small streams and creeks and is well-adapted to life in smaller aquariums. Its undemanding nature and interesting patterning make it a pleasing addition to nano and planted community tanks.
Water: 22–26°C, pH 6.0–7.5, soft to medium hardness; tolerant of varied conditions. Tank: 40L+, fine sand substrate, plants and driftwood, gentle to moderate flow. Feeding: Sinking wafers, micro pellets, frozen daphnia, bloodworm, and algae-based foods. Behaviour: Peaceful schooling bottom dweller; keep in groups of 6+. Compatibility: Good with small, peaceful community species.
