Entacmaea quadricolor
Origin: Indo-Pacific, Red Sea
Entacmaea quadricolor is the most popular and widely kept host anemone in the reef hobby, readily accepting Ocellaris, Percula, and many other clownfish species. Its distinctive bubble-tipped tentacles appear when the anemone is well-fed and content. Available in green, rose, and ultra-red colour morphs and highly adaptable under modern LED lighting.
Requires established reef (6+ months) with stable parameters. Place in high light (PAR 200+) and moderate random flow. Target feed with mysis or silversides 2–3 times weekly. Allow it to find its preferred position — it will wander until settled; ensure no powerhead intakes are unprotected. Avoid exposing to air. Propagates by splitting.
